Index Number: 15947 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] i would like to echo diana dawne's feelings regarding this nls thing. it really, upon reflection, dosn't seem right that a private company can reap the profits of a tax payer supported database and which was intended as a free library service by those taxpayers. this seems like misrepresentation at the very least. gary, tim, diana, margo and others have been following this issue closly. i suggest go to your federal politicians on this subject. one wonders what happened to the "governments" low bidding policy on this one? there are many unanswered questions here. i go to the library and suggest a shortcut "cheap" alternative distribution method and mr. cylke stays silent and steadfastly states "the database is only for the professional blind" in a letter addressed to my congressman, lloyd conley. where are the organizations for the blind???? to busy bsing around i guess... to those who follow this thread, don't be surprised if blink talkers solve this delema!!! dan -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!203!998!Dan.Kysor Internet: Dan.Kysor@f998.n203.z1.fidonet.org
