Index Number: 15551 Hi there, I just discoevered this group today (well, since it's 2am it was yesterday :-) Interesting reading. I'm legally blind and from Melbourne, Australia. Anybody else from around here reading this group? anyway, I would be interested in finding sports played by blind people in other countries. (about the only international sport I know of is Goalball) in Aust. we have blind cricket (nationally, and in New Zealand as well) There are a few of us (who have fairly good sight for blinkies) who have entered a team in a local basketball comp. (in 'I' Grade too!) - We've played 3 seasons now, and have actually managed to win one game! (hate to be in the team we beat *grin*) Hope to hear some responses Scott.

I've been involved with the Western Pennsylvania Women's Goal Ball team for about seven months. We're not doing bad ourselves! We won a Gold Metal in Ottawa, Canada in January! I'm also active in the Western Pennsylvania chapter of BOLD. BOLD is an acronym for Blind Outdoor Leisure Development. BOLD is an outdoor recreational organization and we participate in downhill as well as crosscountry skiing, water skiing, hiking, biking, rowing, horseback riding and general partying. Goal Ball is the only sport in which I compete. As a matter of fact, the United States Association of Blind Atheletes, USABA, is sponsoring their National Games in July and we'll be competing against teams from all over our country. Wish us luck! ... Did you take your vitamin today? -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!129!89!Maggi.Weslager Internet: Maggi.Weslager@f89.n129.z1.fidonet.org
