Hi,
MAB is the Massachusetts Association For The Blind,
located in Brookline, MA. Among other things, they
have a volunteer brailling service, about $.15 or so
a page, and $4 for bindings.
In terms of a centralized list, there is not really
one. But, two lists that are available are:
Volunteers Who Produce Braille, available from your local
NLS library, or Washington.
Also, National Braille Press puts out a list of transcribers,
emphasizing a few volunteer groups, as well as more
commercle companies. This free list contains
about I'd say 10 references to firms.
You can get it by calling National Braille Press at
617-266-6160.
In terms of Arabec, you could try a
volunteer organization if you are willing to wait
for the product, and aren't in a real hury,
and want to save money.
If you don't fit into those categories, two places are
Braille Inc., 508-540-0800, which is the place that charges
about
$1.50 per page, plus high binding rates.
Also, you could try MSMT in Santa Rosa California,
I don't have there number here.
Or, perhaps, Associated Services For The Blind, in
Philadelphia. I'm pretty sure that all three
sources I've mentioned here are listed in
the National Braille Press listing.
Talk to you soon,
Mika
