Index Number: 15602 [This is from the Silent Talk Conference] Let you know that I had talked with Dillip about the MIC300i modem. That's an internal TDD modem. He told me that the newest HAYES TDD 2400 baud internal modem will be in an announcement by the Silent News (hearing impaired newspaper) in this late summer. It would be $399. It will work with any BBS or communication software, but the problem is how it can run without the linefeeds or graphic when the TDD calls. That's the point. I think that some BBS softwares perhaps have asked if they need before they log in. His company is in Maryland State, but it really is in Washington, D.C. area. Wait and hear from them in this late summer.... -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!130!10!Steven.Henry Internet: Steven.Henry@f10.n130.z1.fidonet.org

I don't know who first introduced the story about a 2400 baud Hayes TDD
modem, but I recently had a caller ask my opinion about the beast *and
provide the name, address and phone number of the manufacturer*. Or,
rather, the almost-manufacturer.
First off, it's not Hayes. This sort of explains why Hayes didn't know
what you were talking about. The company is ZICOM, of Vista California,
and the modem won't be on the market for at least six to nine months. So
don't waste your long distance calls just yet.
The product (according to the engineer I spoke to at the company) will
in fact handle TDD at 45 and 50 baud (U.S. and European standards); and
300, 1200, and 2400 baud ASCII; and FAX. The standard unit will handle
FAX send and the optional-at-extra-price will both send and receive FAX.
Planned prices are $289 for FAX send only, and $329 for FAX send-and-receive.
It sounds like a great product, but it ain't real yet, so don't go looking
for your checkbooks until you hear more about it.

Index Number: 16306 [This is from the Silent Talk Conference] Hi John, That's probably why you connected it at the highest speed which they connected at 300 baud. Try to change 300 baud, half duplex, and non-linefeeds. The # is (301) 262-1629 TDD/ASCII. Sometimes, it answers the TDD. I called them few times and it mostly connected at 300 baud (ASCII). I got the information from Jack O'Keefe that he left for someone. The information I have is: MicroFlip, Inc., 1121 Petsworth Lane, Glenn Dale, MD 20769. (301) 262-6020 or (703) 734-7926 voice, (301) 262-1629 TDD/ASCII 300, (301) 262-4978 FAX. I hope it is helpful to you.
