I run a rascal by Electric Mobility. These, as do many of the 3 wheelers,
usually come with Gel Cell batteries. If you plan on using commercial
transportation, they are a must, Although the carriers will take all types
batteries, there is much less hassle with the Gel Cell that with the Wet Cells.

The Gels have a draw-back....in that they have a memory. They need to be
really down before you re-cahrge them, or in time they will think that they
are dead before they really are. I have several sets of batteries for all
occasions. Just running around I use wet cells, as I can charge and discharge
them without worrying about shortening battery life. When I travel I change
to the Gel Batteries for convenience.

If I know I am going to do a good bit of running tomorrow, I will charge my
batteries tonight just so I can start fresh with a full charge. To do this
with Gel Cells (pre-mature charging), can significantly shorten their useful
life. The Gels cost 2-3 times more than the Wet Cell counterpart.
