"Its fine to belong to a group--but heavens, we've got to think for
ourselves." Amen, Margo. I think the reason that some of us come down so
hard on the nfb is because the leadership of that particular
organization so fiercely condemns blind people not only outside but from
within who are not "politically correct." (Take the case of Jamal
Mazrui.)Neither the Nfb nor the Acb should say they speak for "all"
blind people. Maybe we need another organization or a new approach to
deal with some of these issues, like unemployment. Tiles, for example,
won't solve everything, but neither will they create the destruction
that some people on this board feel they will. Unfortunately, sometimes
political passions and a drive for personal power replace advocacy and
mutual understanding.
