I too am not sure of the price of the Vert Plus board, cause even
though I have worked with several people who have been supplied with
them by our local state blindness agency, I never knew of anyone who
paid for one themselves! In fact though, I am pretty sure it is over
$2000.
Compared to what I think now is the only Dectalk, an internal card
that is supposed to go for under $900, it doesn't even seem like a
logical solution to much of anything to me! Likewise though, if this
internal DecTalk is actually available for under $900, it is cheaper
than the Accent SA, and comparable to the Accent internal, so speech
quality, which is what you and Grant were talking about, is most
definately no longer proportional to price! I've heard all the
synthesizers you have been talking about, most for quite significant
periods of time, and indeed, nothing sounds quite as good as a Dec!
