Because of the complexities of both screenreading programs and off the
shelf software, It seems to me that more of an emphasis is going to
have to be put on supplying configuerations for software or formaking
the option available for the configuerations to be made on request, for
a fee of course. Grant

I had a most interesting conversation with your sales manager,
Terry Martin, the other day and came away with the feeling that
the Jaws team is really working to produce a first rate product.
I think it is a tendancy of all of us to want everything to
happen right now and sometimes the technology just ins't there.
Automating as many functions as you can but yet having these
functions user definable also, is what I'd definately like to
see. I've not received Jaws 2 yet but am looking forward to it.

I have just received my jaws2 update and am quite pleased with
what I've found. This programjust thrills me. You all have
made many improvements. I've not had a chance to try out
everything but here area few things I'm really impressed with.
1. the ability to have a separate voice for the jaws cursor.
That eliminates any question as to which cursor is on. 2. the
manues are not as verbose as before but say what is necessary: a
great improvement. 3. Designing the program to get the most out
of the individual sinthicizer and creating an "extra" menue to
do that. 4. Providing good documentation and training tapes
that to me is amust. 5. maybe it's because I've become more
confortable with macros or that I realize their power or a
combination of both but the macro feature of this program works
very nicely. The program runs smoothly with few glitches or
lockups. I've had success with Dectalk and the Soundingboard.
I have the original jaws 2 but I can't seem to make that work.
I'll have to call and request a update for the Artic version of
jaws 2.
Now that you have provided a separate voice option for the Jaws
cursor you have taken away my last discomfort with Jaws. You/ve
got a first rate product. congradulations!

DS>Isn't DeskView a multitasking program? Will JAWS work with the multitasking?

Yes, DESQview is a multitasker. It works best with several megs of RAM,
and a 80386 processor.

JAWS works very well with DESQview. I use it here at the office often.

I have done more work with Jaws 2 and found that the macro for
Wordperfecthas the wrong color for the spell checker. I've been
struggling for three days on and off to try to change the color
to search from what it is to black background as the default
colors for the misspelled word on the spell checker is bright
white on black. I called your tech support man and he in turn
told me to read the manual which I'd already done but I reread
it and made a fresh attempt got as far as changing the macro but
couldn't save it or should I say make the changes permanent. As
for now I've gone back to changing the colors in Wordperfect and
keeping two wo{wp}.set filesI suggest that youmight make sort of
a reference card breaking each step down and putting them inin
logical order. I'm not sure if the macros are hard to changeor
hard to editbut I don't feel that I've been provided with step
by step instructions on how to edit such a complicated macro. I
believe that Jaws2 is a great and powerful program butwork needs
to be done to make these macros easier to edit. You all work
with them every day thus it seems routeen to youbut when the
first macro I have to change is one as complicated as that one
for Wordperfect it is intimidating. This is the first place in
Jaws2 where I'd say real improvement is needed. Murphey's law
prevails in computing thus to mean easy to fix macros would be
helpful. Grant

BK>What do you have to do in order for the separate cursors to have
BK>different functions in 2.14.

I'm not certain I understand this. There are two cursors, the normal
cursor, controlled by your input and the application. That is called
the PC Cursor. Another, that JAWS provides, is used to move about the
screen, while the application is still working and read information off
the screen. We call this the JAWS cursor.

Tell me more about what you want to do.

With all the possible color combinations in Word Perfect. We had to set
a default color. I'll check, but the color combination is listed in the
manual.

I agree that the point in the macro to change it should be listed
somewhere. I'll try to get this information to you. I'll make that
suggestion to Ted for the new manual.

Thanks for the very good suggestion Grant!
