If anyone has ever been to a NFB BH> convention, they will know how disagreement is discussed, and BH> voted on at the floor. The problem comes in when people run BH> campaigns outside the NFB to support their own agendas. Beth, I find your use of the words "outside the NFB" and "own agendas" quite interesting! In fact, I have heard these terms used before, but I've never had examples given to me. For instance, by "outside of the NFB", do you mean that blind people who are not members of the NFB are paid no attention by the NFB? If so, isn't "the voice of the blind" a bit of a misnomer for the Federation? LIkewise, could you give me an example of an active campaign against the NFB? Frankly, I am beginning to think that anyone who doesn't totally agree with the "party line", as you called it yourself, is seen as an active campaigner against the NFB! Beth, starting a computer users group without first consulting the NFB is not an "active campaign against the NFB", and neither is starting an echo that is open to all for the discussion of topics related to visual disabilities! The first of these was at least partially responsible for one NFB member getting the boot, and although I am fully aware we are going to get rationalization after rationalization giving us other reasons why it is so, not handling such a forum as this echo on the NFB board is, without a doubt, a very thinly disguised way of saying, "If the NFB can't control it, we don't want it!" Are you REALLY sure you have a voice in NFB policy? If so, let's see you do something about this atrocity! If indeed the "party line" of the NFB is worth hearing, isn't it supposed to be heard by as many blind people as possible, and likewise, don't those blind people who havn't bought the line as completely as yourself deserve to be heard? Many of them are, after all, NFB members too! Willie ...
