This can get confusing, so here is a list of the latest available OS releases for the various platforms: 1632 & XP 3.02.02 32/200 1.01.00 32/4x0-6x0 3.00.01 32/700 1.00.00 32/8x0 2.00.00 In some cases, the current release is a different flavor of UNIX than a previous release (V.3.2 vs. V.3.1), so check with your supplier to be certain you are getting what you want. For example, Art mentions TOWER 32/4x0-6x0 OS release 2.01.00 (which should really be 2.01.01, and is a V.3.1 product), but release 3.00.01 is a V.3.2 product. -- +------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Sam Vause, NCR Corporation, Customer Services - TOWER Support | |3325 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29169 (803) 791-6953 | | vause@cs-col.Columbia.NCR.COM |

My colleague here, Sam Vause, pleads temporary insanity for part of the information presented in his article about the latest NCR UNIX releases. The following are the AT&T counterparts to the NCR Releases: Tower 32/200 1.01.00 -> V.3.1 Tower 32/4x0-6x0 2.01.01 -> V.2.2 Tower 32/4x0-6x0 3.00.01 -> V.3.1 Tower 32/500-700 1.00.01 -> V.3.2 Tower 32/8xx 1.03.01 -> V.2.2 Tower 32/8xx 2.00.00 -> V.3.2 If anyone sees Sam roaming the streets, please call so we can have the guys in the white suits drive out and pick him up. Thanks.

Release 2.01.xx is derived from AT&T Unix System V Release 2.2, with some ucb utilities carried over from the early days. -- --- HL Rogers (hl.rogers@ncrcae.Columbia.NCR.COM) Me? Um. 2.01.01 is not a V.3.1 product, but rather a V2.2 product, Sam. I had a beta test copy of 3.00.00 a long while back, but declined to install it since it required WIN/TCP instead of Excelan's socket implementation. We've discussed migrating to 3.00.01 now since it's shipping, but the migratory path is still hampered by our choice of Excelan, which we made early on. Also, we have several Ciprico Intelligent controllers (RF1202 and TM1000) in our machine along with their SVR2 conformant drivers. Anyone from Columbia have any ideas on what I will need to do to port these drivers to Release 3? -- Robert A. Monio National Information Services, Inc. "God...
