Is anyone else using NCR Towers and DLC communications ? We have intelligent cash registers connected via DLC to Tower 600s and 650s and use the NCR TIPS DLC driver. I am having problems with sporadic corruption of data coming back (perhaps the other way as well, I have no evidence though) from the registers to the Tower via the DLC. The corruption is not apparently detected by the DLC system as the first I hear of it is when the program processing the data falls over. Does anyone have anything to say about the reliability of NCR DLC communications ? or any other comment about the above ? -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Nigel Harwood >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Post: Coles Myer Ltd, PO Box 2000 Tooronga 3146, Australia >> << Phone: +61 3 829 6090 E-mail: nigel%cmsfl@labtam.oz.au >> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have a 32/600 (Rel 3 OS) and a 32/650 (Rel 2.01.01 OS) connected back to back via a 48K In-House DLC link. I run the SNAX25 and X.25 Host Pad software to route uucp and mail traffic between the TCP-IP and TowerNet networks in our department (Tower Networking Systems, E&M COLUMBIA) With this setup, I get about 3000 bytes/sec throughput, as reported by UUCP in the xferstats file. Traffic between the 2 Towers averages between 1.5 and 2 megabytes of data per day and there doesn't seem to be a problem with data corruption. I'm using the LAPB HDLC driver developed here in Columbia.
