[comp.sys.ncr] 2.01 error log corruption

nigel@cmsfl@labtam.oz (Nigel Harwood) (02/02/90)

On our Tower 32/650s running 2.01 we are getty a lot of error log
corruption, indicated by the following message generated by the
logalert utility which runs each day.

> From root Thu Feb  1 12:24:49 1990
> /ncrm/checklog/logalert: Unknown error type:0
> /ncrm/checklog/logalert: Unable to Recover

I had never previously seen this error while using Tower 32/600s
running 1.03 but it seems to be very common with the 650s.

Anyone know what causes this ?

Also, doing a clear of the error log through SA doesn't seem to
fix it. Instead I have to do a manual clear using :

$ /etc/errstop > /dev/null
$ > /usr/adm/errfile
$ /usr/lib/errdemon > /dev/syscon 2>&1
