[comp.sys.ncr] NCR 4940 Terminal Date Display Bug

dougw@fdls.UUCP (dougw) (03/03/90)

Effective March 1, 1990, the NCR 4940 Terminal's Desk Accessory
Clock displays the incorrect day (Sunday, Monday, etc.) for the
selected date. For example, Saturday is displayed as the day for
March 2, 1990 instead of Friday. These terminals are manufactured
by ADDS for NCR. I contacted the ADDS Display Technical Support
Unit (1-800 231-5445), and they are aware of the problem. The only
current work around suggested is to turn off the DATE display in the
Desk Accessory Clock. The problem apprently is terminal PROM logic
that incorrectly considers calendar year 1990 to be a leap year.

I am posting this as an informational item. I will be checking back
with ADDS Display Technical Support periodically to see if a fix is
available. If anyone else has or learns of a fix, please post to
comp.sys.ncr or email. Thanks
