[comp.sys.ncr] 1.03.00 cron core dumps

nigel@cmsfl@labtam.oz (Nigel Harwood) (03/23/90)

(Apologies if this has already got out as I am having problems
 with my news feed).

We have a number of Tower 32/600s still running version
1.03.00 of NCR's UNIX.

Frequently of late we are finding that cron on these systems is
dying. (It may be that this has been occurring off and on for
a while and due to system usage changes we have only just noticed
the magnitude of the problem.)

On looking at the core files being left in /usr/spool/cron/atjobs
I find that the pc address is always the same:

Warning: '../cron` has no symbols
: address 0x644c
*t
pc: 0x644c;	args: (26,10,14679872)
pc: 0x2cca;	args: (26,6,17)
pc: 0x2fa6;	args: (46996,637635360,177)
pc: 0x1a8;	args: (1,14679992,14680000)
*

Nothing special seems to be happening at the time and no particular
job is starting or ending in the log when it occurs.

Can anyone shed any light on this, I'm stumped ?
