NCR MAIL LIST ARCHIVE The purpose of this writeup is to acquaint ncr mailing list/news group members with the ncr archive maintained at this site. INTRODUCTION: The "mail format" archive for the ncr mailing list has been operational since the fall of 1989. The purpose of this archive is to classify and store all postings to the ncr mail list and newsgroup; classification is bases on the poster's Subject line. The postings are received, stored and distributed in standard "mail" format. STATUS: As of Sep 03, the archive consists of 140 subjects based on 1216 submissions from list readers since August of 1989, shortly after the NCR mailing list started. HOW REQUESTS ARE HANDLED: Requests to uunet!gandp!ncrarch should include keywords which I should use to search the subject index. Your mail response will be a shell archive (shar) containing a concatenation of all archive messages whose subject line includes the requested keyword(s). The resulting file (after unwrapping) on your system will be easily read with a mail reader. HOW TO MAKE A REQUEST: I have set up a separate user SOLELY to receive requests; this will make it less likely that your requests get lost in the shuffle. Please send requests to: uunet!gandp!ncrarch A brief message is fine; let me know the full subject name if you are interested in a specific discussion, or give me a keyword(s) and I will send all archives with that word in their subject. If you want a list of subjects currently archived, ask for the index.
