I am looking to add/change a hard disk on our NCR 32/650. I am not sure about whether or not "most" SCSI drives can be used on a Tower system. Presently we have one internal NCR (which is actually a Maxtor) 380 MB disk (which formats to ~308 MB). What I want to know is what other disk drives on the market are "safe" to pick from (that will be able to be set up by the NCR installation software...)? I know how to repartition/configure non-standard disk layouts on NCR disks (alter the default swap area for example), so I really am just looking for a disk that the controller and software can properly access. In the past I have installed some SCSI disks on 386 machines and know that just because it says SCSI (and it is _supposed_ to be "standard") doesn't mean the drive will always work with every controller! My goal is to have our total capacity up to between 600 MB and 1 GB. Either swapping our current disk out (I have a machine that could be useful in...) or adding an additional drive (we have space for 1 full height drive in the cabinet) would be acceptable (READ: the right price :-) ). I am aware of the Sea Change upgrades and NCR's of course, but there are a great number of other distributors out there selling SCSI drives (700 MB - 1 GB) for better prices. If the drives will work on our system, then they are worth a look to me. Thank's in advance for any help any of you can provide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ mbitow!jdm | And from the fortune file a quip of wisdom..
