[comp.sys.ncr] Connecting a SCSI Tape Drive

cat@pluto.dss.com (Iain Wacey) (06/05/91)

I am trying to connect a SCSI tape drive to several computers,
an Amiga 3000UX, a MIPS RS2030 and an NCR 486. Each of the boxes has
a different plug for the SCSI port. The tape drive came with the NCR
and has a cable with rows of pins on it. The Amiga has a serial port
type connection and the MIPS has a centronics type plug. I was wondering
if there was an easy way to connect the tape drive to each of the machines.
Do I just need to rig a cable or is it more complicated? Any info would be
appreciated.

Hi Iain, all you need is a proper jig for each and you should make SCSI
termination plugs for the machine that don't have the tape streamer on.
Remove plug and place streamer.. plug other unit and so on...

(SCSI must be terminated at the beginning of a chain and at the end)

"If shit is not acceptable then why are MeSsy-DOS machines around?"

A childish remark, but it's all mine.
