Below is some info on 'cheap' hotels in D.C. ------------------------------------------------------------ Quality Inn Downtown $55 per night 1 or 2 plus tax (winter special) 1315 16th St, NW 202-232-8000 Rock Creek Hotel 45.90 for 1 $52.56 for 2 tax included 1925 Belmont Rd. at 20th, NW 202-462-6007 Youth Hostel of Washington, DC 1009 11th St., NW, corner of 11th & K Sts., NW 3 blocks from Metro Center metro stop 202-737-2333 No reservations necessary, but call ahead if possible dormitory style rooms, $13 for members, $16 for non-members. Non-members must have photo ID No age limits Midnight curfew, hostel closed from 11-2:30 each day kitchen available for cooking, no meals provided

The DC Y is actually a hotel (can't remember the name now off hand) but it was around $55 for a single for non-members and included a shower in your own clean room.
