[comp.groupware] Groupwork architect and groupwork architecture

yam@cbnewsi.ATT.COM (toshihiko.yamakami) (04/11/90)

I am back from Seattle, CHI'90.
This is my first ACM conference since I joined ACM in 1982.
I lived in Far East for a long period.
In the closing talk in CHI'90 by Prof. Winograd, he mentioned that
design is somewhat different from science and engineering.
He used 'architecture' for an example.
And he mentioned that design is something to explore 'domain of possibility'.

Don't you think we exploit domain of group collaboration by groupware?
I like to exploit human possibility to knowledges and other intellectual
works with 'groupware'.
I would like to explore the world of collaboration with communication
network, hypertext systems, knowledgebased systems, intelligent user interface,
database system and other computing resources.

I like the word 'groupwork architect' which I coined during
Prof Winograd's talk.
He talked about 'what is user interface, what is dicipline of user interface
research, and how we can educate students for future user interface studies'.
