I've been asked by a company I consult for if I can recommend
a conference system for them to use. They want their network
of dealers to be able to have discussions about their products,
leave questions and discuss solutions. The company already has
a UNIX system which the dealers currently access for EMAIL and
downloading patches/software updates.
The conference software needs to be fairly easy to operate by
users, and must be useable on slow modems (some people call
in at 1200 baud).
So far I've looked at systems such as Usenet news reading software
(NN and RN -- generally too complex), PARTI (too expensive,
the "trees" of messages get too difficult to follow),
Caucus (not very "nice" to use, too expensive).
Can anyone recommend any other conferencing systems (giving advantages
and disadvantages)?
I've heard of one called Picospan which sounds quite good..anyone
got any contact information (eg email address, phone) where I might
find out more about this?
General advice about things I should look out for would be appreciated
too.
Please reply by email and I'll summarise.
