[comp.groupware] Word_for_Windows

I'm using "Word for Windows" for some technical writing and need
to be able to reference equations and sections of the document
from within the text. Does anybody know how to auto reference an
equation number. I label my equations at the end of the line by
inserting a sequence field after creating the equation using the
formula field.

Is there a way of then referencing this equation number from within
the text so that it is auto updating. I wish to say things like

..by using equation [3.1.12] with [3.1.1] we get ...

and know that if I alter the numbering of the equations then the
references in the text shall also be updated.

Has anyone a macro to use or any tricks for implementing this? If
"Word for Windows" could do things like this as TEX does then it
would be very useful.

Does anybody know of any software for converting a "Word for Windows"
file into TEX format?

Please e-mail if you can help. Thanks in advance,
