NASA today announced that STS-7 will launch on 18 June and land six days later on the concrete runway at KSC. The crew will be commanded by Capt. Robert L. Crippen (STS-2) and will consist of Capt. Frederick Hauck, Lt. Col. John M. Fabian, Dr. Norman Thagard, and Sally K. Ride, America's first woman in space. During the mission, the crew will deploy two communications satellites and a West German scientific payload.
