A few days ago, I saw a post where the author (I forget who) said that the Xerox 9700 laser printer used a class 3 (Powerfull!) laser, and the cost of development of this laser drove the price up and delayed its introduction. I had my doubts at the time, but as I was not sure, I didn't post anything. I just came home from a meeting of my local (ham) radio club. One of the members is a Xerox service tech, so I posed the question to him. His response was a laugh. The laser in the 9700 is a class 1. He has replaced and aligned many of them. He has been with Xerox for some time, and has never heard of any such delays in the 9700 development cycle. -- Disclaimer: The above writings are the ramblings of one human being and have nothing what-so-ever to do with Locus Computing Corp. ---> Rich Greenberg, richg@locus.com TinsleTown, USA 213-337-5904 Located in Inglewood, Ca, a small city completely contained within Los Angeles
