If you want to subscribe to the new Perl-Users digest, which will contain exactly the same stuff as the newsgroup comp.lang.perl, you need to let me know even if you are currently subscribed to the Perl-Users list. -- Marc Rouleau (Perl-Users coordinator)

Is the Perl-Users list different from the stuff that will appear in
comp.lang.perl? If so, How do I subscribe?

The overlap will allow time for the "newgroup" news control messages to a) propogate, and b) be acted upon by sites that choose to _manually_ create new newsgroups. [Propogation can sometimes take upwards of a week. I have no estimate on manual newsgroup creation time, since this depends on human intervention. :-)] I think the _overlap_ I propose will yield a much smoother transfer. Next Tuesday I will delete everyone who has not specifically requested to be left on. Until then I will not service unsubscription requests, and you'll be deleted automatically at that time, so please don't ask me to take you off the list now or then. I will keep track of all subscription requests. Those requesting to be on the list between this morning (12/12) and next week will be the only recipients of the Perl-Users Digest as of next Tuesday morning. In answer to another question, the Perl-Users list has been transformed from a simple reflector address to a digestified list with a bidirectional gateway with comp.lang.perl. The contents of the digests will be exactly the same as the contents of comp.lang.perl. I am aware of no other Perl- related discussion lists. Sorry for the false step, -- Marc Rouleau (coordinator of Perl-Users)
