The European Space Agency (ESA) successfully launched its seventh Ariane on Tuesday night. The launch was delayed for an hour until 8:45 pm EDT because of a third stage pressure problem. The payload was the 4,026 pound Intelsat-5 #7. The launch cost $27 million as compared with the $45 million Intelsat had been paying for Atlas-Centaur launches. This gives the Ariane a 5 for 7 record.
