Other than the README files for each platform, is there any 1 document that discusses porting perl programs to the various platforms it resides on. I didn't see it in the man pages. Is this discussed in the soon-to-be classic book? Is perl now being considered for porting to other operating systems? Which ones? And my last naive question, if Perl was mentioned in a USENIX proceedings, could some one be as kind as to give me the citation. Hal German "Command Languages Forever!" hhg1@bunny.gte.com

I don't think there've been any papers dedicated to perl specifically, but at last week's LISA Conference in Colorado Springs, at least two papers referenced it: mine on my perl rewrite of the man system did so heavily, and Don Libes contrasting "expect" as a specific tool versus perl as a general one. There was actually quite a bit of interest, possibly sparked by Kolstad's couple-hour tutorial on perl, as well as a BOF I held. I'll be giving a full-day tutorial in Dallas on perl in January. See the about-to-be-delivered USENIX flyer for any further propaganda. --tom
