[comp.lang.perl] Unix filenames

Why doesn't someone upgrade the kernel so it rejects whitespace in
file names? It's completely rediculous that files can have nearly
   unprintable names!

Even better, why doesn't someone fix the kernel so that it allows
arbitrary 8-bit strings for file names? It's completely ridiculous that 0
and 47 are invalid values for characters in file names! It's even more
ridiculous that there's a restriction on the length of file names!
