[net.columbia] Optical Sightings of STS-9

wheatley@inuxc.UUCP (12/02/83)

STS-9 was seen over indianapolis Thursday evening, and was shadowed
by the sun at 6:27:30 EST. I suspect that it will be visible this
evening (Friday), and most of the ham operators here will be listening
for the orbit 70d, 605 to 625pm EST. Part of this orbit should be
visible, given clear skys!

Fantastic!! This is only two seconds early compared to my predictions
based on a NORAD element set from earlier in the day. This is easily
explained by the effects of the atmosphere, etc.

When I compute further sightings, I'll post them.
