[net.columbia] Columbia TV feeds

dya@unc-c.UUCP (12/04/83)

The unilateral news TV feeds (i.e. the same place that the networks,
CNN, etc. get video and audio to talk all over) from NASA are back on
Satcom F1R, 4120 mHz (that's Transponder 15 for you Drake and Sat-Tec
owners). The audio subcarrier is on 6.200 and 6.800 mHz.
Evidently, this is active quite a bit of the time, and a reasonably
informed source states that this feed will be used on subsequent missions.
Don't hit the ground with your dish (East); F1R is 4 degrees of
Galaxy I, west. If you have less than 10 feet, forget it. The picture is
sparkly even with 5 meters and threshold extension at North Carolina.
