I've been writing some perl scripts to help me manage USENET. I was wondering how well perl would be to handle USENET feed batching and transfers. I made a simple unbatcher in perl for the in-coming and it runs pretty smooth and fast (note: it only simulates, haven't actually apllied it to my Cnews). I had the idea I programming all the network programs into perl. But the question came the mind, would it be feasible? One great point about it so far is that it would be highly portable (to those who do have perl running). I liked the idea becuase the code could be modified directly instead of having to pull all the C-News source on HD, re-configuring, re-compiling, and installing it all again. Slow process for some one who doesn't manage the floppies. Comments? Think it would be worth while? -- Jonathan Ballard (a.k.a Asmodeus) UNIX Tree BBS - A new generation in BBS programs!
