Fellow perl hackers, After working with Perl on the PC for a long time I will finally try to convince the Unix system operator to install it on the Unix machines here at the Weizmann Institute. Also, I will in a couple of months receive a IBM RS/6000 on my desk, so this is also a preparation for that occasion. I would like to have all the information pertaining to installation of Perl on the two systems Convex and IBM AIX starting from scratch with where to do ftp from, which files to get (I have nothing aside from standard Unix programs), where to get patches and how to apply them, and what commands to give on the Unix machine. I also have a Unix question as regards to using Perl in pipes. How would I set up a Pipe in perl that filters a communications session and writes certain parts of it to disk based on triggers in the Perl program? Obviously the communications session should not be distracted by the tampering. Yours, Dov -------------------------- "What is the difference between Haman and Saddam?
