[comp.lang.perl] PERL on VMS?

CFGROB@WEIZMANN.BITNET (Dov Peter Grobgeld) (10/23/90)

I am looking for a VMS-port of Perl. If someone has an FTP address
where it is available, I would be most greatful if you sent it to
me by mail, as our computer is not connected to usenet.

I also wonder if it is possible to subscribe to a usenet discussion
to a bitnet-internet site. Especially I would be interested in the
Perl-postings.

I am looking for a VMS-port of Perl.

I'd love to know if there is one, also.

I also wonder if it is possible to subscribe to a usenet discussion

   Perl-postings.

In general, it is difficult. However, comp.lang.perl is also
available as a digested mailing list -- write to
"Perl-Users-Request@Virginia.EDU" or on Bitnet, "Perl-Req@Virginia" to
subscribe.

Looking into config.h, thinking foolishly about compiling up Perl on
VMS, I see references to the need for running under the EUNICE
program, which we don't have. (DEC does supply something called
DecShell, which, I think, simulates pipes, etc., but, truthfully,
I'd really like to avoid it). Can anyone give me sources or advice
on porting Perl to (real) VMS? (Version 5.3). Thanks!

Has anyone ported PERL to run on VMS environment?

Any info is welcome.
