[comp.lang.perl] GCC and PERL

When compiling PERL on Sun OS 4.1 (on a Sun4) using GCC 1.39 I get:

perl.o: Undefined symbol _alloca referenced from text segment

I read in the GCC manual that gcc uses its own builtin _alloca...
and I can't find alloca in any of the libraries here.

So how do I get PERL to compile? Any suggestions? Help is warmly
appreciated.
