[comp.lang.perl] Perl 3.41 fails some tests

john@beaudin.UUCP (John Beaudin) (03/23/91)

I don't know anything about perl. The tests failed were

-------------------
syntax error in file op.s# at line 5, next token "!"
Illegal item (SINGLE) as lvalue in file op.s# at line 11, next 2 tokens "1,"
Illegal item (SINGLE) as lvalue in file op.s# at line 11, next 2 tokens "8 --"
syntax error in file op.s# at line 14, next token "!"
Execution of op.s# aborted due to compilation errors.

syntax error in file op.stat# at line 4, next token "die "
syntax error in file op.stat# at line 6, next 2 tokens "! while"
Illegal item (SINGLE) as lvalue in file op.stat# at line 10, next 2 tokens "97,"
Illegal item (SINGLE) as lvalue in file op.stat# at line 10, next 2 tokens "103 --"
syntax error in file op.stat# at line 12, next token "die "
syntax error in file op.stat# at line 14, next 2 tokens "! while"
Execution of op.stat# aborted due to compilation errors.

Failed 4 tests.
-------------------

My goal is to learn perl. What's my next step?
Is it the fault of the executable I made? Could I have made the executable
correctly with a different config.h? Is it the
fault of the source code of the tests?

All help appreciated.
