My setup: a Sun 386i running SunOS 4.0.2. Problem: 'make test' says: base/term......FAILED on test 0 Failed a basic test--cannot continue. *** Error code 2 (ignored) running TEST from the t directory says the same thing. Running base/term from the t directory says: 1..6 Segmentation fault Oops! So now what? I tried to pick sunos_4_0_2 from that list Configure presents you early on, and got an error message (something about FPUTS_BOTCH not being found). So I made absolutely sure that -DFPUTS_BOTCH was in the option line, aling with -I/usr/include/sun and -I/usr/include/sun386 just to be on the safe side. On the other hand, it compiled and tested just fine on a Sun 4/280 running SunOS 4.0.3 - as long as I used cc and not gcc (gcc wanted to #include stdlib.h all over the place, and I didn't have it). While I'm complaining... I downloaded the nutshell scripts from jpl-devvax earlier today and I *still* can't get ch6/passwd to run using either 3.044 or 4.010! [ I feel silly complaining about this, though, since I'm sure the answer is in the book somewhere - it's just that I don't have access to my book at right this moment, huh, Randal? :-) ] -- | D. J.
