One of our readers, Craig Paul (paul@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu), has contributed an
index of the Quran to this newsgroup.
The size of the index is a little bit over 40K. I split it into the two
articles which follow, because I was afraid that very long articles may get
truncated. The first entry in the first part is "Aaron" and the last entry in
the first part is "In sha'a Allah". The first entry in the second part is
"Inheritance" and the last entry in the second part is "Zachariah".
Concatenate these two parts to obtain the full index.
Craig writes that there might be off-by-one errors or typographical errors
in this index. PLEASE post all errors that you find to soc.religion.islam.
This will give everybody who saved a copy, a chance to correct their version.
I will forward such reports to Craig so that he can update his master copy.
Also, if you add entries to this index and make it more comprehensive PLEASE
post your changes to soc.religion.islam so that everybody can benefit.
The moderators are trying to setup an archive site for soc.religion.islam.
Once that is setup, the latest version of the index will be available from
there by anonymous ftp. Watch for announcements in this newsgroup.
This index has been obtained from Mohammad Asad's translation of the Quran.

This is the first paragraph on page ix.
"This work is based on the recension of Hafs ibn Sulayman al-Asadi,
as it appears in the so-called "Royal Egyptian" edition of the Qur'an,
first published in Cairo in 1337 H. and regarded by Arab scholars as the
most exact of all existing editions."

So, Naim, I would be grateful if you would look over my index, and if you
consider it worthy, please do make it available. I would welcome any
suggestions for corrections you might have.
Where I do differ from Asad I explicitly note it. See, under Jesus,
"is means to know Judgement Day". I based my difference on the verse in
"Sahih al Bukhari" translation Volume III, section XXXIV. "Sales (i.e.
Bargains)", chapter 104 (Killing Pigs), verse 425.
and
Sex -with slaves is legal. Asad contends that the verses imply sex
through marriage, yet hadith after hadith through "Sahih al Bukhari"
indicate otherwise.
