[soc.religion.islam] Hadith books on CDROM for IBM-PC

morfeq@Boulder.colorado.edu (12/07/89)

****
There is a center of Hadith analysis here in Boulder, Colorado. They
work on automatic analysis of Hadith using Arabic language. Previous
attempts (like the one mentioned at England in a previous posting
in soc.religion.islam) did not use Arabic only English is used.

The center is working on Entering (Sahih books) and their
analysis . They already entered 15 books of Hadith (Bukhari,
Mosnad al Imam Ahmed, ....). I do not
know all of them. They are working on translating all these
books into different languages such as 'Farsi, Urdu, Turkish, Malaysian,
Bangali'.

They already have the Arabic one on CD-ROM (laser disk).
They are in the process of
adding other language translations to it. The Hadith can be
seen in Arabic, then the user can request a translation in any of
the supplied languages. Or the user can start with any other
language and ask for translation is any other language.

An amazing option to be added very soon to the current version
(which I saw a demo of), is the ability to see maps and pictures
of the different places that is
mentioned in the Hadith. For example, if in a hadith there is a mention
to a place such as 'Madina' then the user can ask to show where is
Madina on the map. Also he can request to show a picture (scene) FROM
madina if available.

Dr. Mohammed Mostafa Al-Azami is the head of the center. He is a winner
of King Faisal prize on islamic studies (in Hadith) .

For more information please contact the center directly.

The center phone number is (303) 938-1211.
