Shakir, that I picked up in a bookstore in Boston a few days ago. I have looked through the first few pages, but cannot find a copyright notice. The introduction states: Tahrike Tarsile Qur'an, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is devoted to the dissemination of authentic knowledge concerning Islam through the sale and free distribution of copies of Holy Qur'an and its translation. It also publishes other relevant material. This work is of genuine service to Islam in Amercia and in other countries of the world. This translation was originally published by Habib Esmail Benovolent Trust of Karachi, Pakistan; and later, was reprinted by the World Organization for Islamic Services of Tehran, Iran. We have omitted the footnotes - with our sincere apologies to the soul of the late translator. The Publishing company is at: Tahrike Tarsile Qur'an, Inc. Publishers and Distributors of The Qu'ran P.O. Box 1115 Corona-Elmhurst Station Elmhurst, New York 11373-1115 Does anyone know more about these people? Their motives seem to be in keeping with the Muslim philosophy that the Quran belongs to mankind as a whole. I found the translation to be of sufficiently high quality to be impressed by it. Comments? Questions? Insults? :-)
