I have a question about "eating with non-muslims?" I have a number of friends...among them Muslims Christians, Jews and also Hindus. My questions are: If I am having a pizza and my Hindu friend breaks a piece of it to eat am I un supposed to refuse to eat the pizza? Same question the other way round...if he offers me something that can be eaten without his or my directly biting into the whole thing (eg a pack of chips or Pop corn) then is there a problem with eating that..... I would like to see what people have to say about this.... Imran

Islam does not prohibit muslims from eating with non-muslims. As long as the food itself is allowed (no pork, alcohol etc.), it does not matter whether you eat it alone or with muslims or with non-muslims. So you may safely eat pizza with your Hindu friend (no peperoni or sausage though :-)). regards, Naim

Assalam Alaikum: The following message is to answer the brother's questions mentioned below: >I have a question about "eating with non-muslims?" >I have a number of friends...among them Muslims Christians, Jews and also >Hindus. >My questions are: >If I am having a pizza and my Hindu friend breaks a piece of it to eat am I un >supposed to refuse to eat the pizza? >Same question the other way round...if he offers me something that can be eaten >without his or my directly biting into the whole thing (eg a pack of chips or >Pop corn) then is there a problem with eating that..... >I would like to see what people have to say about this.... >Imran On Da'wa: Invite [people] to your Lord's way with discretion and kindly instruction, and discuss [things] with them in the politest manner. Your Lord is quite Aware as to who has strayed from His path, just as He is quite Aware of those who have consented to be guided. Translation of verse 16:125 of the Qura'n The reason I copied this verse from a message of one brother posted in the news group is to emphasize the way we should act and behave when performing Da'wa. The brother asks the question of eating with non-Muslims. As long as there is nothing unlawful, you should sit with them and perform Da'wa to them like the way the prophet Mohammad used to do so. The above verse explains the way we should approach non-Muslims. If you will avoid them and not eat with them, or even make them feel as if they are a disease that you are to avoid, then how would you make them listen to you or een even sit with you. The prophet Mohammad (PBUH) used to sith with the people in Quraish (the prophet's hometown) and talk to them about the Islam and the belief in the the One GOD, Allah. Assalam Alikum, Shauki
