I received the following letter a little while ago: ------------------------------------------------------- Dear Brother/Sister, Assalamu Alaikum. This letter is an urgent appeal on behalf of the more than 100,000 refugees who have streamed into Jordan since the beginning of August and have been unable to return to their home countries. These Muslims, primarily from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Eygpt, are forced to live under the burning sun of the desert with little water or food. Each refugee receives only one round piece of flat Arab bread, one tomato and one small cucumber per day. The United Nations and other international agencies report that medicine, sanitary conditions and shelter are also in very short supply. Mercy International (M.I.) is sending water, blankets, tents and medicine directly to these refugees. Please join their efforts by contributing as much as you can to relieve their suffering. All contributions should be sent to the following address: Mercy International P.O. Box 248 Garden City, MI 48135-0248 Please make all checks payable to Mercy International and indicate in the memo section of the checks that the donations are for the Jordan refugee Fund. All donations are tax deductible. May Allah (SWT) reward you for all your efforts to improve the situation of refugees in Jordan and around the world. Sincerely, Imtiaz Ahmad General Manager --------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: I have no connection with Mercy International, other than to receive requests from them every now and then for money, and to respond as I am able, Basalat Ali Raja.
