I feel like I don't contribute enough to this board; I just ask questions but, as a Jew who's sole exposure to Islam is in two classes at Columbia University, I have more questions than answers, so... How important is the historic Muhammad, that is, the man who was born about 52 years before the hijra to Medina, who married Khadija, who woke up every morning and ate breakfast like you and me, especially in contrast to the mythic (ie larger-than-you-and-me) Muhammad, whose every word and deed can teach us something about how man ought to act? Am I completely missing the point? Please reply with your opinion by Thursday 2/14 - that's when my paper is due. Also, are the actions of Muhammad before the first revelation as important as his actions afterwards? Peace among Man, David Worenklein PS As always, my apologies if I offend anyone. It is never my intention to hurt - only to learn.
