Courtesy Crescent International Feb 16-28 ARABIAN PENINSULA 1. Amid growing resentment against the presence of foreign, non Muslim troops in Arabian Peninsula, a bus carrying American troops was attacked in Jeddah on Feb. 33. The Saudi Interior Minister, nayef bin Abdul Aziz immidiately threatened to chop off heads of those responsible for the atack. *100* people were reportedly areested on Feb. 5 in connection with the incident. 2. taped speeches of Dr. Safar al Hawali, professor of Umm al Qurra University in Makkah are being circulated throughout Saudi Arabia. Professor Hawali ahs since dissapeared and is believed to be in prison because he condemned the violation of teh sanctity of the holy lands by teh kuffar. 3. The much televised oil slick allegedly from teh Iraqi pipeline in the Persian Gulf was in reality spilling from a Saudi storage tank in Khafji. This was reported by teh Global Television network of Toronto, Canada but the story was then quickly hushed up. MIDDLE EAST 1. Immidiately after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait last August, nearly US$2.3 billion was transferred by Arab depositors from banks in the Middle East to Switzerland. Even larger sums were transferrred to US. 2. Syria was rewarded for its good behaviour in the Persian Gulf crisis. EEC announced on Feb. 2 taht it will provide US$204 million in grants aand loans to Damascus. OCCUPIED PALESTINE 1. Germany pledged DM250 million as emergency aid to Israel after missiles landed in Tel Aviv. 2. An apedemic of malnutrition is threatening Palestenians in teh West Bank and Ghazzah according to W. Gaillard of the United Nations Reliefs and Works Agency. The zionist occupation forces are deliberatingly blocking help from reaching the Palestinians. PAKISTAN 1. Asif Zarzadi, husband of Benazir Bhutto was charged with several associates of masterminding the massacre of 30 people in Karachi,August 22, 1990. 2. The Edhi Welfare Trust of Pakistan sent half tonne of blood as a donation for Iraqi civilianss on Feb. 3.
