In the Name of Allah Most Beneficent Most Merciful Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.. The Gulf War may be over to the world but it is certainly not over yet for the Muslims. U.S , Israel, Fahd and the rest of the taghuts are still there. We still have a lot of battle to fight. In this sense the Muslims neither have gained anything nor lost anything from this war. We are simply back to square one. However some would argue that Muslims did have lost since this war has caused unnecessary deaths of thousands of innocent Muslim civilians, especially of women and children. Furthermore we have lost since we have failed to solve this crisis, which involved our own Muslim brothers, by ourselves. Meanwhile we see the west has already declared victory. The West is presenting to the world that the good guys here are the West and their loyal supporters - Fahd, Mubarak, Ozal , AsSabah family and the rest. These people are the 'good Muslims' because they are fighting evil people like Saddam Hussin. Moreover, 'Good Muslims' all over the world should feel greatly debted to the Uncle Sam now who has fought for them. We certainly seen this kind of Muslims on TV. How can we ever forget the sights Iraqi soldiers kissing the hands of American soldiers begging for mercy, Kuwaiti children holding banners saying "Thank you Mr Bush for liberating Kuwait", Kuwaitis waving American flag - shouting "America! We love you!" and graffitis all over Kuwait praising Bush as their liberator. We also heard a Kuwaiti woman who wanted to name her newborn baby after an American soldier . If this is indeed the reality, this means we have Muslims who have stooped down this low for everyone in the world to see . The West claimed proudly that they have overestimated the power of Arab nationalism and Islamic fundamentalism. They say Arab nationalism is dead and Islamic fundamentalism is virtually powerless. It is Muslims' victory if Arab nationalism is indeed dead but Muslims do have a problem if our Islamic consciousness fail to be translated into concrete actions. Although it is absolutely necessary, it is still not enough for us to focus our work just on raising Islamic consciousness, building schools and forming organizations if we still don't realize that we cannot continue to let the taghuts rule over us. Muslims have to have leadership/political power so that we can protect ourselves from the enemies of Islam . We cannot depend on taghuts to defend Islam and the Muslims. This war has taught us at least that. As we have said before, the war is not over yet for us Muslims. The ROOTS of all our problems are still there - Nationalism, Taghuts' rule, unreliable ulama and masses who mix Haq with Bateel. Our victory or lost will ultimately depend on what kind of lessons we will learn from this war and what kind of actions we will take in the near future. We are yet to watch U.S in the next step of the political settlements. Are they going to redraw borders? place American troops on Muslim land for good in the name of 'securing peace in the region"?, give more piece of land to Israel as war reparation? The war is not over yet. Let us all together work hard to our best ability to establish Islam in our life on all levels - individual, family, society and government. Let us pray to Allah to Help us and Guide us and make us strong and consistent in our effort to be near to Him. May Allah forgive our many sins and weaknesses and Help us so that we can get rid of those weaknesses. Ameen. All that is good comes from Allah and the bad from myself. I beg Allah's Forgiveness. -Sr. Farizah Shaheedah.
