1.  A Manifesto to introduce an Islamic State system in Bangladesh was
announced by the Zaker Party member, Mustafa Amir faisal on February 11.

2.  Iraqi deputy PM Saadoun Hammadi told Iranian deputy foreign minister
Ali Moahammed Besharati on Feb 19 that more than 20 000 Iraqis had been
killed and 60 000 wounded in the first 26 days of the war.  Up to that
time the Iraqi govt. had admitted less than 1000 civilians deaths and 90
soldiers killed in action.

3.  Kashmiri mujahideen hurled bombs and fired on Indian occupation
forces in Srinagar on Feb. 11 , the death annivesary of one of their
resistance leaders, Maghbooh Butt.  One Indian soldier was killed the
previous night, causing the occupation forces to conduct a
house-to-house search for members of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation
Front.

4.  Moshe Arens, the Israeli defence minister visited the US secretary
of defense, Dick Cheney.  Arens sought US$3.2 billion in aid to defray
Israel's 'costs' since the war began and for showing 'restraint'.

5.  David Levy the Israeli defense minister said on Feb. 11 the European
Community continues to back an international conference on peace in the
Middle East, while his country and the US are opposed to such a
conference.

6.  The Gulf War and Iraqi attacks on Israel have caused new demands by
Zionist groups in Italy for the Vatican to establish full diplomatic
relations with Israel.  At least 50 embers of the Italian Parliment
pressed the Vatican to change its stance.  Although the Vatican has long
argued it cannot recognize Israel until its borders are accepted by its
Arab neighbours, Pope John Paul  responded on Feb. 7 by saying the
Vatican recognizes the State of Israel but 'difficulties' prevent
diplomatic links.

7.  The Israeli occupation forces arrested 350 Palestinians of the Hamas
movement in West Bank and Ghaza on Feb 10.


8.  Australia's native aborigines die 20 years younger than white
Australians and have more than double the rate of heart disease,
Canberra's Australia Inst. of Health reported on Feb. 17.

9.  The Al Arqam , a Muslim movement in Brunei, was banned by royal
decree on Feb 13 for allegedly spreading the teachings contrary to
Islam, the regime claimed.

10.  More than 1.3 million Liberians , which is half of the population,
are now refugees due to the civil war was reported on Feb. 11.
