[soc.religion.islam] Iraqi refuguees

yamen%jomby@cs.wisc.edu (04/26/91)

Assalamu Alaikum,

I need the addresses and/or phone numbers of muslim organizations
such as Mercy International which accept contributions for Iraqi
refuguees. Should you know how to send money to these organizations,
it will be helpfull, too.

I've a list of organizations published in N.Y. Times, but I do not
know anyone of them and to be honest I do not trust non-muslims
in that matter. I'm including the NY Times' list below. If you know
that any one of them belongs to muslims or if you know any other
muslim organizations, please send email.

There is a tendency even among muslims to ignore these poor Kurdish
refuguees.

"For those who give in Charity, men and women, and loan to Allah
a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit),
and they shall have (besieds) a generous reward." -Surah al-Hadid; Ayah 18

peace,
-Soner

I know a few people in American Friend's Service Committee, and think they are
a respectable organization.

As for Save the Children, I have been sponsoring a Muslim girl in south
Lebanon for the last 3 years. I have been very pleased with them.
