[soc.religion.islam] WOMEN IN ISLAM * DISCUSSION and BOOKS

skhan@uwovax.uwo.ca (S. KHAN) (05/01/91)

In response to Br. Rached's posting on the above issue,
Br. Sadeghi pointed out very important points. While I
agree with him, I would like to mention the following
point and refer the interested parties to read the
two books listed below.

a. Allah has created human as his Khalifa. Both men and
women. NOT only men are His vicegerents.

b. Most hounarable among believers are the MUTTAQUIS.
Men are not in the higher rank of TAQWA by birth.
If a woman in a community is the one with highest
TAQWA then she should not be ignored just because
   she is a woman.

c. Believing men and women are protecing friends (AWLIYA)
to one another. Women and men are equally responsible
   for one another as partners.

d. Rules of Islam applies to both ( men and women (eg. shariah)
   No discremination due to sex.

e. The Hereafter would be same for both men and women.
Jannah and Jahannam would be same and on the basis of
   same criterion. No double standard.

f. Mother of the believers Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with
her, travelled upto Iraq and led the battle by herself.
She had been the leader of believers like Talha and
Jubair, may Allah be pleased with them, who were given
the tidings of Jannah during their life time.

One may go on and on .........
But I would stop here and hope that we will be consistent
in our believe and action which is the root of TAWHEEESD.

We enjoy taking our wives to many places including shopping malls to mix with
non-Muslims, but discover millions of reasons not to take them to the mosque
or an Islamic gethering.

Here are two books on
WOMEN'S ROLE IN ISLAM

1. Struggle of Muslim Women
2. Liberation of Women Thru Islam

The author presents his findings on the basis
of the Qur'an and authentic Ah-Hadith. Deals with
the issue very objectively and without any
prejudices. Addresses the real world problems
faced by the muslim women today and every day.
