[soc.religion.islam] The Last Day

bjstaff@zds-ux.zds.COM (Brad Staff) (05/01/91)

Greetings:

Do Moslems believe the Last Day will come suddenly and without warning,
or will there be signs and portents giving warning in advance? I have
read the Quran, and have gotten the impression that the Last Day is to
come suddenly and without warning. Is my impression correct? Are there
any good books on the subject I should read? Email is welcome.

Thank you.

Yes! We beleive that there are some indications before the coming of
 the last day.
The coming of Kana Dajjal, a one eyed being, and his playing the
flute (or some organ) wherein lots of people will follow him
(a la pied piper). Those who follow him are bound to go to hell.

The coming of Isa (Jesus) Alaisalam, before the end of the world
 (for 40 yrs).

If u say u have read the Quran, then u must have read
Surah " Kahf." Wherein there is a reference to Zulqarnain
and how he blocked the way of the people 'yajuj and majuj'
from attacking onto this side of the hills. There is still that
people trying to break that wall between the mountains, and every
time they leave in the night, and when they come the next day,
they find that the wall has been brought back into the original
position. but one day they will succeed and they will attack the
other side. They are so large in numbers, that when they pass besides a sea
they will drink the sea dry. They will fire arrows at the sky.

Plus there are a few other indications.

"There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his Messenger".

I would like to read more about this. Is this found in the Quran, the
Hadiths, or somewhere else? Can someone provide details? Email is
welcome.

Yes, I found this passage last night in Surah 18, verses 93-100 or so.
Is Zulqarnain the same person as Alexander the Great? Are 'yajuj and
majuj' the same as 'Gog and Magog'? Does anyone know where the mountains
in this passage are? Email is welcome.
