[soc.religion.islam] Ad-dajjal

lateef@eemips.tamu.edu (Afroz Lateef) (05/17/91)

Brad Staff asked about Ad-Dajjal, such as where is the reference
found. I found quite a bit about him in Ahadith.
 Dajjal is Anti-Christ.
In my previous posting, I had written a few things, such as
he is gonna be one-eyed, he will be playing a musical
instrument etc. Please disregard those things as those were
from my memory, of what I had heard in my childhood.
I will present now, what I find in the Hadeeth. (Probably
 in parts).

Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A.A) states that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.)
said: Lose no time to do good work before you are caught up by
one of the seven calamities. Then by way of warning he recounted,
a starvation which may impair your wisdom, or a prosperity which may
mislead you, or an ailment which may damage your health, or an old
age which may harm your senses, or a sudden death or the appearance
	of Dajjal (Antichrist). All  these are bad events which may be awaited;
or the Doomsday, but this day is indeed very hard and bitter.

Hi. Could you tell me what R.A.A. means?
Does S.A.W. mean "prophet of God" or "Peace be upon him" or something else?
Thanks

I don't believe in flaming. If I appear to be flaming, either (a) it's an
illusion due to the lack of nonverbal cues or (b) my sprinkler system has
suffered a momentary glitch, so just ignore me until it's fixed.

R.A.A. is the abreviation for "Radia Allahu Anhu" which when translated
to english will read (May Allah(god) be pleased with him).
S.A.W. is the abbreviation for "Salla Allahu Alayhi Wasallam" which is
the arabic for which has the same meaning as above but said only to
prophets (the R.A.A. is usually used for Sahabah (Companions of the
prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.))

As far as the considerations for being a Muslim or not, the first step
is to bear witness that there is only one god (allah) and that Muhammad
(S.A.W.) is his messenger. But this is not enough since there are many
duties that a muslim has to perform and many things that he should
refrain from. Acts that a muslim may do may get him/her out of Islam
even though he/she beleives or says the shahadah (there is no god but
Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger).
This is according to Islam (and by the way there is no more than one
Islam but there are different opinions in Islam). About saying Shahadah
in front of two Muslims (the number two) I didn't hear of that and I
have to check it, if you could please supply your references.
