[rec.skydiving] Doing a high one

nraoaoc@nmt.edu (Daniel Briggs) (04/16/91)

I just happened to notice the Sky Dance '91 schedule in the latest
_Skydiving_. I hadn't realized that they made high altitude jumps so
often. (About every two months, if you're interested.) Has anyone
here ever done this, at Sky Dance or elsewhere? I'd be quite
interested in hearing what is involved. Hypoxia training, of course,
but what else? What is a typical budget for the training and jump?
What sort of specialized equipment is required? (Oxygen gear, I
guess, and extra warm long johns? :) If you open at normal altitudes,
do you jump a standard rig? I expect that this is just idle
speculation for a few years in my case, but it's an interesting topic
to kick around in its own right. Personal anecdotes, anyone?
