Where can I skydive in Michigan?
How much is this going to cost me?
Is it worth it?
How does one prepare?
I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
thank you

Look in the Yellow Pages, under "parachuting" or "skydiving". Call the
operations listed there and ask if they train 1st Jump Students. Ask
how much $ they want, if they are USPA affiliated with USPA rated instructors,
and ask what types of training they provide (static line, AFF, tandem, or
all three). If you don't know what these training methods are, ask them (or
stay tuned to this newsgroup as you will no doubt learn:-).

>Where can I skydive in Michigan?
See above.

>How much is this going to cost me?
Tandem jumps run ~$150-$175, static line ~$125-$150, Acelerated Free Fall
(AFF) ~$250-$300. All these are approximate prices of the First Jump Course
ground school and includes your 1st jump, necessary equipment, jumpmasters, etc.
Subsequent jumps get cheaper as you accumulate experience.

I recommend the AFF Course because it offers a more accurate feel for the
sport. However, costs and other questions may dictate going tandem or
static line. Don't be afraid to ask for all the info from the DZ on these
different training methods. All are good, some are better.

>Is it worth it?
ABSOLUTELY!

>How does one prepare?
Call and make reservations (if required) with the DZ of your choice. Get
a good nights sleep the night before and be prepared to spend the day at
the DZ. The course takes about 5-6 hours ground training and then you make
the jump.

If you have doubts, go out to the DZ the week before and check it out. You
will likely be amazed at the safety and excitement of the first jump
students.

Hope this helps. E-mail me if you need more details.

URWelcome

(I think I'll go test jump an Excaliber 150 for my friend! I mean, what
are friends for?:-)
